8. Alarms & Plant Health
Roasthubs surfaces alarms from your PLC so issues are visible before they become downtime. Open the Alarms page from the sidebar (requires the view alarms permission).
Spotting alarms
- A red badge on the Alarms sidebar item shows the number of unresolved alarms.
- Alarms also surface directly on the plant view at the node that triggered them.
The alarm list
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Severity | How urgent the alarm is |
| Plant asset | Which node triggered it |
| Description | What went wrong |
| Status | Active, acknowledged, or resolved |
Alarm lifecycle
- The PLC raises an alarm; it appears on the list and the plant map.
- An operator acknowledges it to signal someone is handling it.
- The underlying problem is fixed on the equipment.
- The alarm clears once the condition is resolved.
Common alarm types
| Message | Typical cause |
|---|---|
| Scale zeroing necessary | Scale needs to be tared |
| Calibration necessary | Scale out of calibration |
| Motor protector off | Electrical trip |
| Cell full | Destination buffer overloaded |
| Dosing error | Weighing fault during a blend |
Taking action
From an alarm you can jump to the plant node to see context and operate equipment (if your role permits).
Warning. Always follow on-site safety procedures before overriding or operating equipment in response to an alarm.
Alarm reporting
Alarm trends feed the Reports dashboard — most-occurred alarms, alarms over time, and dosing-error charts help you spot recurring problems.
