Recipes & coffees
A recipe is a definition — both what a coffee is and how to make it. Recipes are how Roasthubs converts lots from one zone to another.
Recipes are built from recipes
A recipe is made up of components, and those components are themselves recipes. This is the key idea:
- A green coffee is the simplest recipe: a named origin with no components.
- A blend combines multiple component recipes, each with a target weight or percentage.
- Every recipe belongs to a target zone — the zone its output ends up in.
Green coffees
Green coffees are recipes without components — single origins as they arrive from the supplier. You manage them under Green → Coffees (see Green coffee).
Blend / transformation recipes
Roast, grind, and pack recipes typically define:
| Element | Description |
|---|---|
| Name & description | How the recipe is identified |
| Components | The input recipes that go into it |
| Weights / percentages | How much of each component |
| Target zone | What kind of output it produces |
| Expected weight loss | For roast recipes, the loss during roasting |
| Recipe group | Optional grouping for filtering/reporting |
Recipe groups
Groups cluster recipes for easier filtering in planning and reporting — for example "Retail blends" or "Private label".
Recipes and inventory
A recipe is kept as inventory inside a cell. When you check inventory or plan production, Roasthubs reasons in terms of recipes: how much House Blend green do we have, and is it enough for tomorrow's runs?
