Zones
A zone is a stage of coffee processing. As coffee is transformed it moves from one zone to the next. Roasthubs models four standard zones.
| Zone | Typical contents | Example recipes |
|---|---|---|
| Green | Unroasted beans in silos / big bags | Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Brazil Santos |
| Roast | Roasted batches | House Blend Dark, Single Origin Light |
| Grind | Ground coffee | Espresso grind, Filter grind |
| Pack | Finished packs | 250 g retail bag, 1 kg wholesale |
What zones control
Each zone can independently track:
- Lots — inventory units in that zone
- Recipes — product definitions for that zone
Your organisation can turn lots and/or recipes on or off per zone. For example, a roastery that buys pre-ground coffee might disable the Grind zone entirely. This is why your sidebar may show only some of the Green / Roast / Grind / Pack pages.
Zones map directly to the main zone pages in the app. See Working with Zones.
How coffee moves between zones
Coffee moves between zones by running a production that follows a recipe. The recipe's target zone determines what zone the output ends up in. For example, a roast recipe consumes green lots (Zone 1) and produces roasted lots (Zone 2).
