4. Production Planning

The Production board (sidebar: Production) is where you schedule what the roastery will make. It requires the view productions permission.

Board layout​

Production runs are organised in columns — typically one column per machine (roaster, grinder, pack line). Each run is a card you can drag to reorder.

Scheduling a production run​

Key fields when scheduling:

Inventory check​

Before a busy day, run an inventory check to confirm enough upstream coffee (e.g. green) exists for the planned runs. It shows per-recipe requirements versus what's available in cells.

A shortage flag means you should adjust the plan or top up stock before running.

Optimise the schedule​

Roasthubs can suggest a better run order to improve:

  • Stability — smoother transitions between recipes
  • Gas / energy usage — reduced consumption

Review the suggested order, then apply it to update the board.

Reordering and editing runs​

  • Drag a card to change its position in a machine's queue.
  • Open a card to edit its details or remove it from the plan.
  • Move a card between machine columns to change where it runs.

Following a run​

Open a run to see its batches and the lots they produce. As batches complete, lots appear with their weights and timings. The run reflects the production lifecycle: Planned → In progress → Completed.

The Production sidebar item shows an indicator when runs are queued or in progress, so planners can see outstanding work at a glance.
