7. Recipes & Coffees
Recipes are the blueprints that turn coffee from one zone into another. This section covers creating and managing them.
Where to find recipes
- All recipes: the Recipes area lists every recipe across zones.
- Per zone: each zone page has a Recipes tab scoped to that zone.
- Green coffees: managed under Green → Coffees (origins with no components).
Access requires the relevant view-recipes permission for the zone (green, roasted, ground, packaged).
Green coffees (the simplest recipe)
A green coffee is a named origin with no components. Create them on Green → Coffees. Once created, they're available as components in blend recipes.
Creating a blend / transformation recipe
- Start a new recipe and give it a name & description.
- Choose the target zone — what kind of output it produces.
- Add components (other recipes) that make up the blend.
- Set each component's weight or percentage.
- For roast recipes, set the expected weight loss.
- Optionally assign it to a recipe group.
- Save.
Recipe fields
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name & description | How the recipe is identified |
| Target zone | The zone of the output (roast, grind, pack) |
| Components | Input recipes and their amounts |
| Weights / percentages | How much of each component |
| Expected weight loss | For roast recipes |
| Group | Optional cluster for filtering/reporting |
Editing a recipe
Open a recipe to edit its components, weights, and details. Changes affect future productions; existing lots keep the recipe definition they were produced with.
Recipe groups
Groups cluster recipes for filtering in planning and reporting — for example "Retail blends" or "Private label". Use them to keep large recipe lists manageable.
How recipes drive the rest of the app
- Planning schedules productions of a recipe.
- Cells store one recipe at a time.
- Inventory checks reason in terms of recipe requirements.
- Lots record which recipe they were made from.
