Roasting

The Roast page covers everything about roasted coffee. Open it from the sidebar (Roast). It requires the view roasted lots permission and the roast zone to be enabled.

The roast lot lifecycle

As a batch travels through the roaster, Roasthubs records its journey from the funnel to the roast cell:

Timings and metrics on a roast lot

MetricMeaning
Dosing timeTime to weigh the blend components
Funnel timeWaiting before charging the drum
Charge timeLoading the drum
Roasting timeDrum to cooler
Quenching timeDuration of quenching (if used)
Cooling timeIn the cooler until discharge
Total cycle timeEnd-to-end batch duration
WLPWeight loss percentage (input vs. output)

WLP (weight loss percentage) is a key roast indicator: green coffee loses moisture and mass during roasting, so output weight is lower than input. Comparing actual WLP to a recipe's expected WLP helps catch roast problems.

Roast recipes

Roast recipes combine green coffee components into a blend, with an expected weight loss for the roast. Create and manage them on the Recipes tab — see Recipes & Coffees.

Roast Compare

If the Roast Compare module is enabled, a separate sidebar item lets you compare roast profiles side by side — useful for dialling in consistency between batches or machines.
